One of the leading Christian schools in Perth

Scotch College is one of Australia's leading independent private Christian schools for boys in Perth for Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12.

About Scotch

Founded in 1897 by Jane Alexander and her husband, Scotch recognises that all boys are built differently. We embrace education in all its breadth and diversity. An education at the College is not simply about inspiring excellence but centred on imbuing our students with the skills, resilience and empathy that will prepare them for life.

Our structure

Junior School

Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5

Split into two pillars, Early Years (PK–2) and Primary Years (3–5) , our Junior School is among the best private primary schools in Perth. We pride ourselves on providing exciting and all-encompassing programmes, tailored to how boys learn best.

Education begins in our Early Learning Centre – catering for boys 3 to 5 years old. Our ELC inspires a lifelong love of learning across Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.

From Pre-Primary to Year 5, our students enter the Junior School. Through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, we nurture students to become curious, active and independent learners.

Middle School

Years 6 to 8

Our Middle School supports adolescents as they transition from primary to secondary education. We recognise that the middle years, from ages eight to 14, are critical to a young person's cognitive and emotional development.

Senior School

Years 9 to 12

Our Senior School focuses on developing empathy, resilience and respect in our students. We offer a stimulating academic and co-curricular programme with an emphasis on breadth of education.

Students in Years 11 and 12 choose between the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the Western Australian Certificate of Education, providing a full range of tertiary education or vocational education pathways.

Boarding

Years 7 to 12

Our Boarding Houses are nestled against our substantial Playing Fields, which back onto Lake Claremont. Boarding at Scotch fosters independence and a strong sense of belonging.

Our students

Scotch has approximately 350 students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 5, 500 students in Middle School from Years 6 to 8, and 740 Senior School students from Years 9 to 12.

We are also home to 120 boarders from areas as diverse as China, Singapore, regional and remote Western Australia, interstate and more.

Our community

Scotch offers a community for life. Service is an essential part of life at the College, and as one of the leading Christian colleges in Perth, we strongly believe that fostering a supportive and collaborative community builds fulfilled citizens who are engaged in the world around them.

Old Scotch Collegians

Founded in 1904, our alumni association has over 15,000 members worldwide and is one of the largest of its kind in Australia.

Scotch Parents

Our parents, both current and past, are a core part of our community. Our parent support group, Scotch Parents, provides valued social and fundraising support for the College.

Scotch Parents organise regular events for our parent and student community, including the beloved Scottish Banquet, community choir and a weekly walking group.

Little Pipers

For boys and girls 0–4 years

Little Pipers is a free early learning programme that fosters our youngest community members' love of learning.

Sessions run most Monday and Thursday mornings throughout the school term at the Lower Junior School Library and Early Learning Centre.

Scotch is recognised as one of the leading Christian schools in Perth

Scotch College is a member of the Uniting Church. Formed by the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian churches in 1977, the Uniting Church is well known for its progressive Christian values, which guide all that the College does.

Our location

Scotch is located in Perth's beautiful coastal suburb of Swanbourne. We are 500 metres from central Claremont and just eight kilometres from the Perth CBD. Like the Perth CBD, the port city of Fremantle and its many historic attractions is only a 15-minute train ride.

Our College occupies 22 hectares between the Swan River and the Indian Ocean. These vast expanses of river and beach are within walking distance from the school grounds. Our students swim and surf at the nearby Cottesloe Beach, and row and sail on the Swan River.
