Free parent and local community engagement workshops
Share in coffee and morning tea while engaging in some educational conversations based on the teaching and learning programme at Scotch College.
The sessions are led by the Head of the Junior School, the Deputy Heads of the Junior School along with Special Guests from our experienced Primary Years Programme classroom and specialist teachers. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to engage with our Scotch community.
In our CCC mornings we explore a variety of topics including:

Our sessions are usually held on a Tuesday morning between 8:45am – 9:45am in the Gooch Pavilion.

Parents New to the PYP | Summer Term | Week 3A - Tuesday 18 February
This informative session will help you develop an understanding of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the curriculum framework used across the Junior School. The aim of this session is to share with parents what we do in the Junior School and to further develop the home school partnership. We will take a journey through a Unit of Inquiry in order to develop an understanding of the key components of the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Enrichment | Summer Term | Week 5A - Friday 7 March
At Scotch College Junior School, we assist all students, to access the curriculum to achieve personal excellence through a differentiated and transdisciplinary classroom environment. Please come and join our Enrichment Coordinator, Mrs Alison Webster, as she unpacks the Enrichment Programme, including:
- Identification, tracking, monitoring procedures
- Overseeing challenging, intrinsically motivating academic programmes
- Supporting differentiation within the classroom
- Providing clarity for key language and terminology

Academic Support | Summer Term | Week 9A - Tuesday 1 April
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Academic Support CCC. This event is designed to provide valuable insights into the various programs and resources available to help your child thrive academically and personally. You will be able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the academic support available in the Junior School and discover how these programs can enhance your child's learning experience, boost their confidence, and foster a love of learning.

Protective Behaviours | Autumn Term | Week 2A - Wednesday 7 May
Protective Behaviours is a practical approach to teaching children about personal safety. At Scotch, we run the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum predominately throughout Term 2. Come and find out what this programme is about and have your questions answered. Join our Junior School Psychologist, Jon Marginis and Head of Junior School, Maria Hodges for this information session.

Continuous Reporting | Autumn Term | Week 4A - Tuesday 20 May
Join the Head of the Junior School, Maria Hodges along with the Deputy Head of the Junior School, Warwick Norman to find out how we report on academic achievement in the Junior School. The session will include a dive-into Continuous and Semester Reporting, and how to access reporting through our digital platforms.

Early Years Literacy | Autumn Term | Week 7B - Tuesday 10 June
Please come and join us for a coffee, conversation, and an update on how we deliver literacy in the Early Years here at Scotch College. This session will be run by our Head of Academic Support, Angie Myler and our Academic Support Teacher, Rosmary Nixon.

How We Teach Maths | Winter Term | Week 3A - Monday 4 August
Join our Junior School teachers for an exploration of hands-on Mathematics, using tangible examples to teach numeracy concepts. Scotch provides for boys of all abilities, so teachers will explain how differentiation in a lesson can target your child's current development. Parents will also get to participate in activities that demonstrates hands on learning and differentiation in practice.

PYP Exhibition | Winter Term | Week 3A - Tuesday 5 August | INVITE ONLY
Yr 5 parents are invited to this Conversation, Curriculum and Coffee Session where the Year 5 PYP Exhibition will be discussed in detail.
This session is essential for Year 5 parents, as it will provide an opportunity to learn about the exhibition process and the role parents will play in assisting their son on his exhibition journey.

Inquiry-Based Spelling | Winter Term | Week 6B - Tuesday 26 August

Fostering Digital Literacy and Healthy Tech Habits in Yrs 1 to 5 | Winter Term | Week 9A - Monday 15 September
Our Generation Alpha children are born into a technology-
driven world. It is essential to equip them with the skills to thrive in this environment. This session, aimed at Year 1-5 parents, will explore how Junior School students use their devices and how to support them effectively. We will cover Fergus' Digital Passport to showcase how Junior School supports digital literacies, focusing on:
- Creativity
- Organisation
- Safety
- Balance
- Security
- Being a digital hero
- Becoming a digital detective
We will discuss how you can support your child at home, empowering them to take control of their digital lives. We will also demonstrate responsible and balanced technology use to guide children towards healthy digital habits.
