Olympic flag comes to Scotch
Today we celebrated the Olympic Spirit with our very own OSC Alistair Murray and Olympian Stephen Bird.
Buenos Aires hosted the third edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games from the 6th to the 18th October 2018. 4,000 athletes between 15-18 years old from 206 countries competed in 32 sports, with Australia shining on the Olympic stage, claiming 21 medals in total.
Australia took a team of 88 athletes who competed across 26 sports, claiming 16 individual and five mixed international medals.
Alistair was part of the Australian Team competing in the sport of Hockey. In the Youth Olympic Games, it is not the hockey we are all used to, rather it is Hockey 5's, meaning there are only players on the field, one of whom is a player with Goal Keeper privileges.
Alistair's team competed really well and managed to achieve 6th place, a fantastic result.
As recognition of this achievement and to acknowledge Alistair's time here at the College, he attended Senior School assembly this morning with Olympian Stephen Bird for a special presentation of the Olympic Flag.
Stephen competed at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games, in the sport of Sprint Kayak and it was an honour to welcome him to Scotch to present Alistair with the Olympic Flag on behalf of the College.
