Pop-up prayer space in Scotch Junior School
As part of Sustainable September, in class and during chapel this month, Scotch boys will be encouraged to reflect on the blessings of creation, the diversity of life on Earth and action they can take to help sustain and protect the natural world.
On Friday 20th September a 'Pop-Up Prayer Space' appeared in the Junior School to provide an opportunity for students and staff to pray or to make a pledge for the planet. This event is in response to the Day of Global Climate Action called for by the Uniting Church National Assembly.
The prayer space is a quiet space for prayer and silent reflection. Boys will visit with their class or in a small group and are encouraged to light a candle or pin up their own prayers, pictures or symbols celebrating the natural environment and life on earth.
Scotch College's Junior School Sustainability Captains are also collecting plastic bottle caps which will be donated and recycled to make prosthetic limbs for children. Boys can drop off bottle caps in the pop-up chapel.
