Scotch Pipers Learn From The Best
It's not everyday our boys have the opportunity for one-on-one music lessons with an international musician. But on Monday 21 May, Scotch College Pipers preparing for the 2018 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo were in for a treat as visiting musician, Margaret Jorgensen, stopped by for a few tips and tricks.
Margaret is the Lead Tenor Drummer in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo's own band, the Pipers Trail, and has played with the Western Australia Police Pipe Band in Grade 1. A schoolteacher by profession, Margaret has performed at the highest level on both the Tenor and Bass drum at the World Pipe Band Championships and has played at various Tattoos in Moscow, Oslo, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh to name a few.
Margaret kindly gave some time to the Scotch College Pipe Band on Monday to teach the boys some new flourishes and help them prepare for the trip. The boys very much enjoyed the experience to learn some insider tips on preparing for the 2018 Military Tattoo and look forward to putting their learnings into practice.
